STEP 1
MAKE YOUR ARTWORK

TIMELINE:
Work out the weeks backwards from now until the date of the event. An ideal campaign is between 3-4 weeks where you’ll launch the event online and then implement supporting content in the following weeks such as spotlight on what the night/collective/brand is about, who your DJs are and create the visual vibe to persuade why people should come and dance with you.

REQUIREMENTS

We need a list of IG @handles of your DJ lineup for copy & paste.
Example @thefadedcommunity @back2backdjbattle @ @ @

ARTWORK REQUIREMENTS

  • Logo. Download here
Use “The Faded Community” logo as a small part of the poster. You don’t need to write “Faded Society” (me as a DJ) anywhere

  • You will need to add a header title “Faded Presents Project” into the design at the top. This can be in your own font

  • Include Title, Date and Time

  • Mention if it’s a free event or ticketed after a certain time etc

  • Include a few genres to give the audience a feel of what to expect

  • Include DJ names from the lineup

  • Provide a reference to what the night is going to be about, either with words or visual design. If it’s a dark and moody techno night then you’re unlikely to use bright colours (not a rule though, get creative). If it’s a happy disco night then you probably should design something fun!

You must submit the below artwork variations before the deadline

  • 16:9 Banner - for RA (image one)

  • A4 Poster - for RA (image two) and the zine

  • 4:5 Portrait - for IG and our website

You should be making other assets for yourself to use

BANNER DESIGN

If you’re creating the event on RA then you need to use the banner as image 1 out of the two available image slots. This is because when the event is on the main RA feed, they show in 16:9 ratio and not your poster. See examples on the Faded Community Promoter page

I’d suggest using RA for your events as they’re the most known for DJ/electronic nights. They’re also rolling out features to sync with SoundCloud soon to easily connect artists to the events.

The banner ratio should be 16:9 or 1920 x 1080 pxl.

The below is what it will look like once the event page is complete with two images and descriptions next to it. The banner and second image can be two different designs.

Past examples. View this page on desktop to see the details

Example of good banner to include keywords

Example of bad banner: Don’t cut the design/ fonts off

STEP 2
MAKE YOUR ra page

REQUIREMENTS

First line of the description body:
FADED PRESENTS PROJECT: xxx (insert title of the event)

Last line of the description body:
[ This is an event & project supported by @TheFadedCommunity (IG). Supporting up & coming DJs and artists to provide a platform to play, perform and connect. ]

PROMOTER COLLABS
You can tag the page which will be co-listed on the platform: RA FADED COMMUNITY promoter profile: https://ra.co/promoters/123533

EVENT BLURB
Read the Marketing Tips on RA description writing. In summary:

  • CHECK LIST

    • Title of event

    • Date and Time

    • Location (Venue name, postcode etc)

    • Describe the vibes of the night, what people can expect

    • Describe a few genres to hint the music

    • Describe the DJs to let people know more

    • Advise if this is a free event, ticketed online only, door sales or if it’s free until a certain time then OTD tickets applies afterwards

    • Think about, if you were a stranger finding out about a random event you’ve never heard of then what information would you like to see to persuade you to come?

RA ARTIST PROFILE

Make a RA artist profile in advance to be tagged to the event. It may take over 48 hours sometimes to be approved by RA so plan ahead. Let your lineup of DJs know also.
A lot of people get stuck at this stage, please read this article from Resident Advisor: https://support.ra.co/article/266-i-would-like-an-artist-dj-or-label-page

INSTAGRAM

  • Normal tagging: You can tag @TheFadedCommunity in any of your content on Posts (grids). You can also tag the brand page on Stories but this will likely be reshared more on the week of the event to avoid over-sharing on Stories at the wrong time.

  • Collab tagging: We will accept as long as the cover artwork is not cropped

  • All captions about this event must include the below " This event is hosted by us but supported by @TheFadedCommunity, this Faded Presents Project is a free initiative for DJs to help in the planning, execution and marketing of throwing your own event"

  • Use the crowd videos provided to create a vibe and hype in your own content design. Download HERE

WHATSAPP COMMUNITY: FADED RAVERS FAM CHANNEL

Trish will share the event in this channel on the week of the event. However, you’re welcome to post your own texts, images and videos in the channel to promote the event. The more conversations you have with the community about what you’re doing (not just focusing on the hard sell), the more support you might garner.

If you’re not part of this channel already, then join here

WEBSITE

All events will be added to WHAT’S ON with a direct link to your RA. This will also show up on the HOME PAGE

OTHER CHANNELS

If you’ve got other sales and marketing channels such as your own website, email subscriptions, Linktree or Beacons #linkinbio supplements and any other support channels then feel free to ask me advice on how to take advantage of these to promote your event.

LEADERSHIP

Your job as an event organiser, is not only to lead the way and talk about your event (aka promotions), but to encourage everyone involved to do so. We advise that all event organisers should create their own WhatsApp group chat with the DJs to keep them in the loop.

  • Everyone will appreciate organised information such as the logistics

  • Share the venue specs for them to know in advance

  • Create camaraderie by letting know why you’ve created this event and what it means to you, therefore helps them to support you better

  • You can even tell them what Faded Presents Project means, how that’s connected to the community and what your goals are within it

  • Provide hi-res artwork for them to reshare on Posts and Stories

  • Ask them to accept collab tags to increase the exposure and leave comments or share the content for increased engagement

  • Overall, you can’t ask people to do anything if you didn’t create the rapport with them in the first place

SPREAD THE WORD

Last but not least. Don’t underestimate the power of word of mouth! It’s still hands down the best tool of marketing. If you and your DJ lineup talk about the event in real life, online, in yours or their own friend groups then the exposure will be multiplied.

STEP 4
contacts

Trish will create a group chat for you + Trish (Tpot) + Cat (Faded Society) about 3 weeks before the event to help make the planning chat easier.

A lot of people tag @FadedSocietyOfficial account - this is WRONG and will be ignored. Please tag @TheFadedCommunity for all events
The other one is Cat’s personal DJ account.

VENUE

Club Makossa (Dalston), you will be contacted by the venue owner/manager a day before (or sometimes the week of) the event to confirm time of arrival/ set up if needed

Your event time:
8pm - 1am (Thursdays)
9:30pm - 3am (Fridays or Saturdays)

Happy Hour: 7-8pm (Thursdays only)
DJ drink tokens: You should get 2 per DJ

There's no pressure from the venues in terms of fees or bar sales as part of this project. Spread the word as much as you can, bring friends and dancers and have a good night. They will survive if people buy drinks so you can help them by telling people to drink!

FINAL CHECKLIST

  1. Know your deadline to submit content. This is advised in the email

  2. Create your artwork in various forms and ratios. Submit in a Google folder link

  3. Make your own RA event page

  4. Create your RA Artist profile if not done

  5. Send a list of Insta @handles of the lineup of DJs

  6. Contact us on emails leading up to the event, then 3 weeks prior Trish will add you to a WhatsApp

  7. Ask questions whenever you need

I know this is a lot of information!
But if you want to this properly and set yourself for success then I hope these free advice will be valuable and helpful to you.
